Sporting career

Radford represented New South Wales in baseball. He also represented the Sydney Church of England Grammar School first XI in cricket.

Administrative career

In 1970, Radford joined the New South Wales Cricket Association as Assistant Secretary. He was at the same time Assistant Secretary of the Australian Cricket Board of Control. In 1976, he became Secretary (an executive position) of the NSWCA. He served in this role for almost twenty years. In 1993, Radford was appointed chair of the Bradman Foundation, a role he served in until 1997.

He died just months after his 60th birthday. Greg Chappell, who is a vegan, had a bet with him that if Radford lasted until 60, Chappell would eat a steak. Chappell also had the same bet with Doug Walters, who turned 60 in 2005.

Radford was a life member of the NSWCA, the Bradman Foundation and the Marylebone Cricket Club. A scholarship for young cricket administrators awarded by the Bradman Foundation is named in his honour.
